Asaan hai kya aisi mohabbat karna jiske badle mohabbat na mile?
It’s the most beautiful feeling in the world.
Bollywood has a certain obsession with romanticizing and glorifying unrequited love. The perfect example is Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
Ayan is in love with Alizeh. Alizeh doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. The hero then proceeds to sing Channa Mereya at her wedding. In simple words, make yourself the victim, guilt trip the girl, and make her feel like a horrible person for not being in love with you. He also lies on the floor and hits himself with a flower vase to demonstrate the pain of the heartbreak caused by Alizeh. Did she ever cheat on him? No. Did he ever pretend to be in love with him? No. The sole reason behind the overreaction is his selfishness.
Ridiculously good-looking actors, exotic locations, beautiful music, and honeyed Urdu shayaris but that’s about it. This movie is miles away from reality. In real life, people eventually move on with their lives but in Karan Johar’s world, they turn into poets, singers, and painters who spend their lives raving about how ek tarfa pyaar is the best feeling in the world.
