Can I please request you to spare 24 hours for research on this piece before you convince your father.
Please do the following:
- Take a scooter/bike and visit any nearby village. Meet a poor old lady and ask her three questions:
- Is there a toilet in your house. If yes, was that toilet built before 2014 or after that?
- Is there water supply in your house? Did you have water supply in your house before 2014?
- Is there electricity in your house? Did you have electricity in your house in 2014? If yes, for how many hours was the supply available?
- Park your Scooter or bike in a parking lot and take a bus to a city. Check the quality of roads and compare to the quality of roads in 2014. Chances are high that you will be on one of the expressways.
- While you are in bus, use google to check how many IITs and AIIMS were in India in 2014 vs how many are there today.
- Please come back by train. While you check the TTE’s electronic gadgets, don’t forget to check if the railway tracks at the railway station are still yellow in color. Also check if you are still able to feel that old beautiful Aroma of tomato filled human waste on tracks.
- While being in train, use google again and check how many airports were built in India versus how many are built in last 8 years. Please check year on year growth of passengers by air.
- While you move in train from one compartment to other, check if there is any foreigner in that train. If you find any, interact with him and check what do they feel about the current leadership in India. Also ask them how they felt about Dr Manmohan Singh Ji being our PM. Don’t lose the opportunity to check their reaction about the young future PM Rahul Gandhi Ji.
- Also while you interact with your fellow passengers in train, do ask them if they still have that fear of bomb blasts in trains. How safe they feel under current leadership.
- Before you get down from the train, don’t miss to interact with youth in train, especially those who are travelling to participate in any sporting event. Ask them how have things been in last 7–8 years.
- You can spend rest of your time in train by booking many services online including your gas cylinder. You can also study a little on google to understand that the actual gas cylinder price in 2012 was 1200 rupees which is higher than what it is today. It’s just that the previous government was giving you subsidy by cutting the development budget. No wonder that there were no expressways.
- Just when you get down at the railway station, buy a good English newspaper and read business page on it. See the opinion that economic experts including IMF have about the further economic growth prospects in India. For that particular day, plz stop reading Facebook posts of economic experts like Poonam Pandey, Mohit Sharma or Tau Harender.
Your 24 hours will be over by now.
Then tell your father about your observations. Let him decide if Modi is a good PM or a disaster.
He is god for crores, whose lives have been transformed completely because of him. Basic facilities like sanitation is what those people were deprived off. For a day, plz walk 15 miles to get water for your family and feel the pain that crores of women used to feel.
Thanks for reading,
Rahul Sharma
PS : If you are adamant for proving that Modi is a disaster then give your father a smart phone and make him a participant in some of the FB groups from Deoband. Your objective will be served. It’s the other thing that you will have to change the way the women in your house dress.
